INVALSI is a public research institution supervised by the Italian Ministry of Education and part of the National Evaluation System. It promotes the improvement of education through research on educational systems, policies and practices, in particular via the deployment of national tests to measure students’ learning outcomes at primary, lower and upper secondary level and through schools’ quality assessment. The institute has sound knowledge of the Italian education and training system and a solid experience in the analysis of quantitative data, also in a longitudinal perspective.

Main Tasks within LINEup

The national authority from Italy supports the identification and access to longitudinal studies and other datasets, the selection of the schools participating in the qualitative research in Italy, the formulation and dissemination of project recommendations and results. INVALSI leads the work around policy, practice and research recommendations and co-leads part of the mapping, dedicated to the feasibility study.
